Founder: Aaron

Hello, my name is Aaron and I am currently a high school junior in Los Angeles. I’ve always enjoyed the process of taking different components and piecing them together to build something with a sum greater than its parts. I found working on and building computers have both fed and fueled my curiosity to create. I’ve also enjoyed learning about all the ways computers help me. From doing school work to online gaming, computers play a pivotal role in my life and of those in my generation. However, I also unfortunately understand that not everyone has such vital access to a computer.

From my mother’s work advocating for foster children through the Children’s Law Center of Los Angeles, I see the hardships foster kids experience. So, I want to help kids who are in need of the essential resources and stability that a personal computer can provide. With Kid2Kid Computers, I have combined my eagerness to build with my desire to help. I want to do my part to support children’s organizations in the Los Angeles area by donating computers to kids in need who lack one.

In addition to computers, I also play competitive tournament golf. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and build gaming computers. With what I’ve learned from building my own gaming computer, I’m guiding my little brother, Brandon, in building his first desktop gaming computer.

I’m a kid, and I want to make sure other kids have what they need.

Fundraising Manager: Willem Ness

Hello! My name is Willem Ness and I am a junior at Loyola High School of Los Angeles, CA. At Loyola, I am an editor on the school newspaper and I run track. I was never into computers or technology, so I am not experienced with building and taking apart computers like my compatriots. However, I do understand the importance of computers and the internet, especially with how school works today. I will work my hardest to ensure that more kids have access to easier education.

I spent my summer last year before the pandemic working with elementary school kids at a summer camp. I understand how kids that young work, and online school must be especially hard for them. I was excited to join Kid2Kid computers because I want to give every kid equal oppertunity to succeed. In our digital age, this is done with a computer. Sadly, there are lots of students in the Los Angeles Area who do not have access to a good computer. That’s why I wanted to join.

Although I do not have any experience with building computers, I do have experience with business and promotion. My main job in Kid2Kid is fundraising so we can get more donations of computers, computer parts, and money to buy new computers. I will learn from the classes that I’ve taken about promotion and also from other students who have used social media to promote their charities. My priority is to raise as much money as possible so the maximum number of students can have a computer.

Co-Founder: Brandon

Hello, my name is Brandon and I am currently an eighth grader in Los Angeles. My older brother, Aaron, and I want to help organizations and kids who need computers, but don’t have them. My role in Kid2Kid Computers is to help my brother build and refurbish old computers to donate. I also maintain and update the social media pages here.

I have found the process of refurbishing computers for K2K really interesting and was inspired to build my own desktop computer from scratch. I am in the process of building a desktop from individual parts that I am optimizing for gaming to play video games with my friends.

I also enjoy playing travel baseball, following and rooting for the Dodgers, and making my own baseball brackets.
